# What MCP does

**MCP** (Model Context Protocol) is how ChatGPT, Claude, and similar hosts call Orbit as a tool, with your permission.

## Connector

```
https://orbitpilot.vercel.app/mcp
```

You sign in to Orbit (OAuth), allow access, and the host can call Orbit tools.

## Flow for a money move

1. You ask in ChatGPT or Claude: `swap 10 XLM to USDC`
2. The host calls Orbit tool `orbit_do` (same engines as the Orbit website chat)
3. Orbit returns a **pending action** and an in-chat **Confirm** panel (MCP Apps)
4. **You** review amounts and assets, then sign with your Orbit wallet
5. Orbit submits on Stellar Testnet; the host can poll status for the tx hash

## What tools are for

Typical capabilities (same as chat):

* Read portfolio / balances / coach suggestions
* Prepare swaps, lend, LP, predict, perps, NFT, bridge, and more via `orbit_do`
* Check pending action status

Scopes are limited to **read** and **prepare**. There is no MCP scope that lets the host sign or broadcast for you.

## Desktop vs mobile

| Surface                      | Confirm path                                                                |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Desktop web ChatGPT / Claude | In-chat Orbit panel + passkey                                               |
| Mobile plugins | Often **Open Orbit to confirm** in the system browser (passkeys work there) |

Freighter is not used inside host iframes (extensions do not work there reliably).

## Continuous conversation

After Orbit suggests next steps, you can reply with `1`, `yes`, or natural language. Orbit normalizes that into a real command. The model should call `orbit_do` again, not invent transaction details.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://orbit-pilot.gitbook.io/orbit-pilot-docs/connect-from-ai-apps/what-mcp-does.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
